A few years before, my boss acquired an old broken arcade machine during a store
liquidation, and I was entrusted with the exciting task of bringing
it back to life. The primary objective was not only to restore its
gaming functionality but also to transform it into a
captivating tool for marketing, self-presentation,
and showcasing company information.
The final implementation featured an integrated screen with a custom
application that showcased all the company's projects and
presented the individuals behind them. Utilizing the machine's original
arcade buttons for control added an authentic touch to the experience.
Additionally, we incorporated a game mode that allowed users to choose
from a variety of classic arcade games, successfully preserving the
machine's nostalgic gaming features.
To accomplish this transformation, I dedicated significant time to physical
prototyping. I successfully connected all the buttons to an Arduino,
ensuring reliable input recognition, and integrated a new screen into the machine.
Additionally, I developed a software solution that seamlessly processed the
data input from the Arduino. I established a connection to the gaming emulator
and implemented the desired user interface design.
The end result was an immersive and visually appealing experience that
captivated users while effectively conveying the company's projects and information.
